Nowell! Nowell! - CD

It is a real pleasure to introduce this wonderful collection of carols by Chris Williams.

Chris Williams is a composer with amazingly wide popular appeal. The carols on this recording span over a 25 year period, written for friends or groups which Chris was involved with or directed. They have been performed and loved by both singers and audiences alike. The majority, are for unaccompanied choir and are varied in style; from the very simple unaccompanied setting of I sing of a Maiden through to the more challenging A Babe is Born. For this recording we have also included six carols with brass. These are a wonderful addition to the collection and add a real brilliance and contrast.

Recording the carols for this CD in the extraordinary beautiful chapel at Ashridge College, Hertfordshire was a sheer joy – and our sincere thanks go to the Ashridge Business School for allowing us to use their chapel.  All the singers loved the experience and at the end of a long weekend recording still didn’t want to go home - they just had to sing Green Growth the Holly one last time!

We hope that you will get as much pleasure listening to this refreshing collection of new carols as we did recording them.
